Diary

2008

January

For the second time Heather Mills invited the Bognor Regis Big Band to play at her home in East Sussex. It was her 40th birthday and what a great atmosphere! She loves our sort of music but what none of us knew was that she is a very accomplished saxaphone player. Her brother managed to drag her onto the stage where she played 'Fly Me To The Moon' while I sang. Good on you Heather and Happy Birthday!

February

The band were invited to the Riverside, West Sussex, to perform a concert in aid of Cancer Research. Great crowd and loadsa money raised for a good cause! www.cancerresearch.org.uk

March

I was honoured to sing with the resident band, The Cookie Jones Trio, at the Silk Road Restaurant in Littlehampton. This is a great venue run by a wonderful lady called Teresa Haskell. Not just fantastic food but stunningly good musicians playing all sorts of music including Jazz nights, Turkish music, Writers' nights, Magicians, Belly Dancers, and many many more. Check out the website for details of the regular band or their guests: www.thesilkroadrestaurant.net.

April

Great fun working again with old pals Michael Wooldridge on Piano and Phil Solomon on Drums. It was a surprise 60th birthday party at the Windsor Hotel, West Sussex and the birthday girl was overwhelmed totally! www.michaelwooldridge.co.uk

May

Great honour to work on the same bill as Bobby Crush at the East Sussex National Golf Club. This wonderful pianist wowed the crowd with his tribute show to Liberace. Bobby is still one of the best showman this country's ever produced! www.bobbycrush.co.uk We followed with Dance Music late into the night - they didn't want us to go!

June

Thrilled to be invited to take part in Young Calibre Fun Day. CALIBRE is a wonderful charity, based in Aylesbury, providing books onto cassettes for the Blind and partially sighted. As a reader I met some of the young members who listen to the childrens' books. There were extracts read out loud and a tour of the studios for the children: www.calibre.org.uk

July

My third time as compre at the Austin Sport and Social Club in Longbridge. Always a lot of fun - great crowd, great welcome! Top of the bill and back by public demand Hermans Hermits. And this time they've brought with them The Foremost, one of the best of the groups from the 1960's. Also a special guest appearance of two great professional dancers, Richard Freakley and Jane Brookes. www.hermanshermits.co.uk.

August

An exclusive invitation to appear at the UK Paper Leisure Club, Sittingbourne. Am delighted as I know this is a very prestigious venue and they have a lot of the best of the Headliners in showbizz.

September

The MG Sports Car Club has its annual Rally. Their Finish Line is at the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne and the Phil Solomon Big Band is there to welcome them with yours truly singing. This is our fifth year running - a lot of fun with guest musicians from all over the U.K. (Phil Solomon: 01273 608916)
